That looks like a really clean car to start with (other than that terrible tumor between the shock towers Headscratch).

Seven hour tear down. I think it will take a few more to put it back together.

Keep us posted. This looks like the start of a great build!

By the way, how did such a clean 71 Mach 1 end up in Kuwait?

I was wondering who would be the first to mention the chevy small-block. What's the third-world coming to?

don29163, I'll try to trace it back some how from the customs and have a friend who is incharge of classic cars museum over here in Kuwait who am sure will be able to route back it's origin.

From what I know, as per the previous owner, it was a drag racing car brought to Kuwait back when we had the quarter mile then converted to a basic running car.

My aim with this project is to have it built back to factory stock, but am still undecided as to where I wanna go with engine / gear stock or something that would tear up the streets if need be.

Am also looking at having the car usable as well, but all these thoughts still not clear, guess when I sit down and have clear thoughts I will know where to go from.

The 7 hour tear down was with the help of a couple of my friends as well total of 8 so that speeded things up, I was the main butcher when it comes to slicing and dicing :-)

Here is a pic of me and the Mach 1 to be...

I hope you took lots of pictures and bagged and labeled everything.
As for how you want to put it back, Do it the way you want it, make it your car !

Sesha: Thank you for sharing your Mach 1 project with us. It is obvious you have some experience with restoration. What a great challenge for you, nonetheless.
Where can you obtain parts in Kuwait for a Mach 1? That sounds like the toughest part of the challenge.
But what an unbeatable combination: Middle Eastern food/fellowship (some of the best in the world) and a 1971 Mach 1! Gotta love it!
All of God's best you!

Information collected so far on what was in the car:

Engine is a chevy 383 - Out for sale now
Tranny is a Chevy 700
Axle is a ford 9" 3.82 ratio

Don29163 - I did not bag anything, since I previously worked on a Chevy Truck 2003 model full restore and that really required alot of bagging, this project is way to simplified in comparison to the truck I restored. As far the photos goes, I doubt they will be of any use since I did not find one screw that was even worth saving on the car, seems like a cut and paste build from before, the only thing that was worth while considering is the shell.

Ponypastor, finding local parts for this Mach1 is like looking for a needle in a hay stack, I doubt I will find anything useful, it's most likely going to be a an order placed with a us based company in one container and shipped to Kuwait.

I will be relying alot on the current website on the internet of getting all the factory build information to compile the list of things I need to order from the US.

As it stands today, the first obstacle I need to overcome is finding a place in kuwait who does soda blasting to clean her up, sand blasting is the only things that I found here to so far.
