All, i'm having a hell of a time getting the struts off the car! to date i got the front 1" nut off the front of the driver's side - i then got the two lower nuts off of the LCA but not the bolts - they won't budge! i tried doing this with the front end on stands, but it looked like the strut was straighter on the ground. anyway, can i bang the LCA bolts out from below or do they have to be wrenched out? any secrets are appreciated.
PS - mine is a 73' mach

Once you take the nuts off the strut rod bolts on the lower control arm the strut rod should come off the lower control arm and slide out of it's place in the strut rod cross brace. The bolts are pressed into the strut rod and can be punched out if needed.

Sounds like Steven has done it! I have not tackled that job yet. Good luck!

If you put the nuts back on until the end of the nut is flush with the end of the bolts/studs in the lower control arm, you can tap on them with a brass hammer to break the bolts free from the control arm without damaging the threads. Remove the nuts and the whole thing comes out easy.
