2.75 gearing?
#1
Okay, in the process of restoring I have ripped apart the rear diff. It's in excellent shape, but has 2.75 ratio. Any thoughts on how bad this is, should I look at changing it if I want any kind of quickness off the line? Thanks. Also, running 351c 2v.

2.75 is a real long legged highway gear. Great if you did long distance cruising in some western states but I am not sure if the road around Yellowknife lend themselves to that type of driving.

For around town cruising you would want to go numberically higher. I would think into at least 3.50

from what I am finding out that 2.75 rear gear was for better gas mileage . that was the gear that came in my car . It was a 351c v2 with a
c6 in a 73 mach 1 . these days I would go for better mileage just so you could enjoy the drive and that is an open diff also . Idea

A new ring and pinion gear set is cheap enough.

Buy the gearing you want out of it.
Since you are way up north and really out of the street racing scene in the lower 48 states, I would expect that cruising the open roads is more important than 0-100 MPH.....just saying.

Build it like (YOU) want and not what other would like you to have in it.

The way the fuel prices are over here 2.75 is good. I would hate to see my fuel economy with a higher gearing Duh
