Thank you for letting us know the final outcome of the problem. One more to add to the books to be able to help the next guy. Glad to hear that you were able to get it diagnosed and fixed.

I'm late for a response, but in the future, it could be a bad solenoid, even a new one. The coil wire at the solenoid provides a full 12V during starting and is supposed to drop out once the key is released from the "Start" position, but I've seen them stay engaged. Just an FYI.
