I agree as well. WAY TOO HIGH:
There is a 1970 shelby here in Denver area that is selling for 41,000.
It needs a little work but not too much.
There is also a 1969 MACH 1 here in the area for 40,000 that looks way better on craigs list ( mist blue one).
Personally; I believe that for that price you ought to have at least a 428 CJ car in really good shape.
I have seen Cobra Jet cars in really good shape sell nationwide this year in the 23-32,000 range.
I do nationwide Craigslist searches all the time.

Thanks once again for all help.
I called the dealer and they said the seller will not take a penny less than the asking price. It's one of those instances where it sells for the asking price or it doesn't sell. So, I'm going to pass on it.

Mike,
No doubt you have seen this thread and ad that Joe posted: http://mach1club.com/showthread.php?tid=3298 and although it is a 1970 verses the 1969 it is a good feeler for reality pricing for an original and untouched car. There's a 69 out there somewhere just like it.

$44,900 and he's got an aftermarket tachometer strapped to the steering column? For that price, it should have an in-dash tachometer. Or, at the very least, a hood tach. Price drop!
It see it's also got a '70 Hurst shifter; not original. Price drop!
The engine and engine compartment are custom. Price drop!
I think what really drives a high price for a Mach 1 is being at or very close to concours condition. Custom touches are nice and I do like them. But custom touches are much easier, and even less expensive, than doing a concours restoration. If you don't want to go concourse, fine. But don't expect to get a concours price for a restomod. And I think $44,900 is a concours price for that car.

I have to agree, $44k is a bit high. I paid $32k for my 69 Mach 1 last October and mine is similar. Same colour, M-code 351-4V, Code 6 - 4-speed close ratio, code 5 axle 3.25. Apart from the factory incorrect changes mentioned above also note that is has the wrong exhaust tips and the big one - the rim-blow steering wheel. I'll bet my mother-in law it doesnt work and is all cracked up given it has the steering wheel cover - mine is exactly the same - doesnt work!

I am glad they didn,t push you into buying the car even when you were wanting that real bad . I,m sure you work very hard for the money you have . You could turn your want into your familys project . C . L .
