changing from pedastal mount rockers to stud mount on a 351c?
#1
In order to put a high lift high duration cam in a 351c do you need to have the heads machined for rocker studs instead of the pedastal mount rockers? Or do you change to roller rocers?

WHat is the most lift and duration you can expect to be safe with on a stock 351c?

I am new to ford engines and have always worked on the adjustible valve train chevys. It seems that they are a little easier to stick big lopey cams in. Is this a true statement?

Thanks
Wade

They do make a stud kit that you can run without machining the heads but they are not nearly as strong as having your heads machined for true screw in studs. They machine the pedestal down and bore out the hole bigger to accept a bigger stud. Much stronger and you can run all kinds of lift this way. Thats what i did with my heads and it didnt cost much for the machine work either since they were already rebuilding the heads for me. I think i have a set of roller rockers in the garage too. they have very little miles on them but i had a valve break and messed up one of the rockers so i bought a new one from harland sharp. So i have 15 comp rockers and 1 harland sharp. Same ration 1.73 but the harland sharp is alot lighter. They ran fine for me but i ended up buying a whole set of harland sharp rockers when i redid my heads.
