Sound deadener / insulation products
#1
I just now have insulated the interior of my 69 mach with a product I have known about for a long time , It very inexpensive per square ft and easy to work with.
The product is used in the heating and cooling industry for all kinds of applications , so it will work very well for the cars as well.
the insulation , sound deadener is a double aluminum faced foam sandwich sheet , it comes in rolls of 200 - 700 sq ft and sells for less than 50 cents a sq ft.
You can glue it is with hi tact adhesive and it will stay put.
I would recommend anyone doing an interior refinsh to check this stuff out.
We use it all the time in our radiat heat systems , great stuff.

Thanks for sharing your research with us. Let us know how it turns out and your recommendations after it is all said and done.

Take some pictures if you can. Biggrin

I used to do testing of military vehicles out at Ft Huachuca, Arizona at the electromagnetic interferance and high / low frequency sound chamber back in the late 1990's.

Any how I was talking to many engineers whom tested out the chamber when it was being built and they had used many different materials when testing sound leakage of the test chambers along the walls and ceiling and floors of the chamber.

That HVAC matting was tested as I remember seeing the stuff they had pulled off the walls and had failed the sound testing. It did a fair job on the sound deading but not near enough to get rid of ghost vibrations as the high end dynamat type materials did. This dynamat type of material combined with a waffle like egg crate looking foam matting did the best to absorb sound and vibrations.

Me personally, If I ever get my way I will simply just do one area at a time as I have the cash to do so and later on have it all done in the good stuff in due time.
