Welcome Rob.
That has got to be one exciting day to see come. Very nice looking car. Feel free to give us more history on why you chose a 69 Mach 1, how you found that specific one, your shipping experience, your first thoughts upon being able to lay eyes on your car and how you have found actual ownership since its arrival.
Well done. Congratulations.

Bit of history. I have always loved muscle cars, particularly American muscle cars, we have our own here in Australia but over the years I developed a love for the American Pony cars, of all brands. I'd always had a fondness for Mustangs and a few years back a particular 69 fastback really got my attention. Since then I have been obsessing about owning one. As I researched, I decided it had to be a Mach 1. Whilst a big block would have been the ultimate, the small block was much more within the price range. With a busy lifestyle and small children I knew I would have no time to do a resto so I only looked for good ones, ready to drive. I found this car on eBay and fortunately a friend of mine living in Illinois at the time drove to Iowa to have a look at it for me. It turned out to be a great car so i bought it. Purchased in October 2010 it took the best part of 4 months to get it here due to the wait on Import Approval and obviously shipping.
The body and paint are very good, interior mostly original but in good condition and the mechanicals have had the once over but could do with a little work in time. It is a numbers matching car with original block, transmission and rear end - as far as I can tell anyway, that is it has the correct tags and stamps which match to the VIN, door tag and Marti report.
Future upgrades will include chainging to correct air-clearner assembly, swaping out the front drum brakes for discs and I have to do something with the original 4-speed shifter. It is quite bad and jams up all the time. Considering whether to rebuild the original or swap out for a Hurst.
All in all I love the car and everytime I look at it it brings a smile to my face. I still cant believe I actually have it!
And that steering wheel needs a resto as well!

Thanks Rob,
I love the history and the story. One more question, where do you live in Australia? I love the scenery behind the car in the driveway.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words of welcome.
Steven, I am located in the less than exotic Western Suburbs of Sydney, NSW, just north west of Parramatta. There are parts of West and North West Sydney are green and leafy which is nice and it's mixed in with a healthy dose of muscle car fans and owners.

Interesting story about the car and thanks for the additional pics. I bet that four month wait was hard, but worth it once you got the car!
