Medium Lime Green Metallic 1972 Mustang MACH I
#1
DATA Plate info is as follows: Body 63R, 2-Door SportsRoof MACH I, Color 4F, Medium Lime Metallic, Trim AR, Green Vinyl, Trans X, FMX Automatic, Axle 2, 2.75:1, DSO 45, Lansing. The VIN is: 2F05H216638. This MACH is equipped with the ORIGINAL 351-2V Cleveland Engine and FMX Automatic Transmission. ALL Original tags are on the car and match the ORIGINAL Build Sheets (TWO) that are also included in the sale. The Build Sheet pictured is a “Reproduction” of the Original giving all the correct information. The Original Build Sheets are very old and distressed, but are in one piece and they are legible.

HISTORY:

The car was originally purchased from a dealer in Lansing, Michigan. Soon after, the owner moved to the state of Tennessee. The second owner purchased the car in 1996 with 112,000 miles on the odometer. A NOS (new old stock) door and fender came with the car as the ones on the car had a couple small crinkles in them…..from a Camaro. The original owner reportedly put the car away after the accident until it was sold. The second owner, a retired Auto Mechanics Teacher, and his son did a FULL Nut and Bolt RESTORATION on the MACH after the purchase in 1996. The ENGINE was COMPLETELY overhauled, bored .10 over, ALL NEW internal parts of the highest quality. The camshaft is the highest performance camshaft available for use in this engine with a Two barrel carburetor. The carburetor was rebuilt and has a new choke pull off and air cleaner vacuum actuator. The engine even retains the original heat riser to assure good cold start operation. The FMX Transmission was completely REBUILT at the same time. The car was sold to a third owner in July of 2005 very shortly after the completion of the restoration project. The Odometer showed 113,500 miles on it. This included the mileage put on it from moving to Kalamazoo, Michigan from Tennessee. The Third owner babied the car and never drove it more than a couple hours from home to shows and events. I purchased the car in September of 2009 with the intent of Detailing it out to meet MCA (Mustang Club of America) CONCOURS DRIVEN standards. The interior was already EXCELLENT, the Engine Compartment and Undercarriage needed full makeovers! It currently shows 18,100 miles….actually 118,100 but you would never know by looking!!!

DETAILS: This MACH is positively one of the nicest you will find. The body panels are ORIGINAL and show NO signs of rust, weakness, or bondo anywhere! The undersides of the fenders are as nice as the topsides! Bolts and bolt heads in the wheel wells are still shiny. ALL glass is the ORIGINAL CARLITE and in excellent condition. The headlights are original matching sealed beams…NOT Halogen. The BATTERY is a true “AUTOLITE STA-FUL”, not just a fake topper. The PAINT on this MACH is EXCELLENT, no ifs ands or buts! ALL panels fit and align PERFECTLY, there are NO waves in the body panels at all. The doors open and close as though it was a NEW car! ALL of the BLACKOUT areas on the lower rockers, hood and rear are the correct semi-flat black color…not glossy. ALL five tires are new and match. The correct Jack and Handle are mounted in the trunk with the new spare. ALL NEW Weather stripping everywhere on the car. When cleaning up the wheel covers I found the ORIGINAL FORD stickers still on them dated 3-9-72….and they are PERFECT. The INTERIOR is completely new and in EXCELLENT condition. There is ONE “dime size flaw” on the center of the back seat cushion. It looks like maybe it was a burn that was repaired. I was amazed when I found that the SEAT BELT LIGHT on the dash AND the seat belt warning BUZZER function as they should. In all the cars I have restored, I have never had one work properly before. The GAUGE pod is crystal clear, it really is just like being in a NEW car.

Sometimes I add photos I come across to keep for reference for others. In building this message board and for the past 3-4 months I've found so much stuff but never in one place, so hopefully some of this stuff cuts down the searching others have to do. With good members like you we can make this the go to place for everything Mach 1/Boss! Well hopefully.
