Hey gang. I wish I had some awesome pics of my 1970 mach 1 but alas...I don' own one. That is why I am at this site. I have a 4 year old son and I am looking to start a project that he and I can work on over the next X number of years together. I'm looking forward to getting as much information, ideas and inspiration as possible through this community. Here's to ya! Jam

Welcome to the site from Virginia! Sounds like a nice long-term father/son project. Good luck with your quest and I'm sure you will find plenty of good info here! Remember to post your location on the map by clicking on Mach 1 Locator at the top of the webpage.

Hi Scott. I'm down in Colorado Springs. I too am looking for a project car: 1969 or 1970 Mach 1. I haven't had any luck yet. Everything I find is either completely restored for over $30K or completely rusted out.

Definitely. I setup a "all of craigslist" finder and haven't gotten much yet. What I am really looking for is a running, rolling 1970 mach1. There are a couple out of state. Looks like it will be around 7500-10k to get one. I'm not a world class automotive mechanic so I'd like to stick with more of a preservation project than a ground up rebuild. Let me know if you come across anything Klutch. Would love to see your progress!

Hey bro. I'm out of Denver too.

Saw a 70 on the side of the road for sale up by Greeley the other day. I'll try to track down the # for ya.

Around here you should try checking out the classic car cruises in Lakewood and the other blue-collar burbs. Also the Mike Long Ford Festival @ Bandimere is next month. Definitely check that out! Saw a sweet 70 Mach 1 - Grabber Blue - up there in the lot during the Mopar show a few weeks ago.

Another idea is to dedicate a weekend to driving around the smaller towns in the greater Denver area. You'll run into a lot of unexpected gems collecting dust in driveways.

Lastly, there's always the Rocky Mountain Mustang Club and also Colorado Mustang off Peoria and 33rd. Both are great means of networking.

Good luck.

I'm having the same experience. Not sure if you saw in another thread that I drove to Montrose last weekend to check out a 70 Mach 1.

That car is restorable, but it would be a real challenge. The car actually runs quite well; 96,000 original miles. Unfortunately, you'd have to replace the front frame rails and torque boxes, lower rear quarters, passenger side door and shock towers.

Shoot, I'm willing to do a ground up rebuild. And I'm still having a hard time finding something for under $10,000.
