Hey Roger - this is a good idea!
Okay Rare Pony what will it take to force you to take a two hour drive to get the chance to look at what appears to be a very nice Mach 1 in need of an overseas home?
Roger - money well spent! Rare Pony - a good road trip!

A road trip might be fun to see this Mach, but he is probably better off with the professional inspector if he has experience with old Mustangs. My inspection would just be cursory based on my back-yard mechanic experience!

Still waiting on info from the seller as regards arranging the inspection date/location but took a punt on these guys, 1st up on a search, spoke with booking agent & seemed knowledgable about the car & age etc.

Be interested to hear if anyone has used them.

I've never used an inspector, but the info on their website looks impressive. Let us know how it works out.

Here's a few reviews - Take it for what its worth.
Frankly if it was me I would spend the money to fly in and look the car over. If your going to drop a good amount of cash on this Mach 1, spending another 500 bucks over what you were willing to pay a service to look the car over for you would be worth it to me. I bought my 72 Mach 1 off ebay, and drove 13 hours to California to look at the car personally. Once it met my satisfaction I rented a trailer from Uhaul and dragged it home.
Where is this car maybe a Member here would go look at the car for you?? Just a thought.

Wow, quite the can of worms this buying a high dollar car from across the pond! There is a Mustang Club in New Zealand that has a lot of experience in exporting/importing cars, as well as a few members here in Australia that are knowledgeable first hand with the facts, maybe they could give you some personal contacts and advice. Afterall, it is a big deal.

I know there are a few members here that have imported Mach 1's from to US to Australia and the UK. If I recall correctly they were satisfied with the car when they received it. Hopefully this one will work out.

Thanks all.....
Its a risky deal not being able to kick the tyres yourself, a trip to check it out would be nice, maybe catch up with friends stateside but business is manic, almost 24/7.............
The car looks straight & the seller checks out, tbh, I can live with the niggles & sort them here at my leisure, as long as LLC can give me a base idea, discount a wreck & confirm clear title I think I've at least attempted to cover my back..... LLC now booked for inspection Monday.
TBH. I recently purchased a new 2011 GT500 with every possible upgrade including SVT performance package from a Florida dealer & was extremely dissapointed on delivery with paint, stripes, interior, hood alighnment and car needed steering tracking but having left the US warranty was void.
Just part of the experience I think.
Thank you all for your help, will keep you posted
