73 floor pan repair

Has anyone installed a full one piece floor pan? I have the windshield out and wonder if it is better to put it through the front or side door and window ?

Hey,

Why should use a one piece floor panel , is the original tunnel that bad !??

Otherwise , it's not possible to fit in a one piece floorpanel from above , it has to come in from under the car.

I would go for left and right full floor panels , if the tunnel can be saved.

Thanks was wondering. The tunnel is good just thought it might be faster with the whole floor. Guess its cutting time!

Beware !!! , take out one side and weld in the new panel before cutting out the other side.

If you do it that way , it's a piece of cake "really".

A full floor pan would require you to set the car up on a jig so that the car maintained it's form. I would think that replacing one side at a time can be accomplished more simply without tweaking the car.

So any suggestion on best pans to buy? I live in the NW and will be doing my own repair and welding. So price might be more concern than fit, but would like best of both worlds!!!

If you already have the whole floor pan just cut the pieces from it that you need. Quality and price: I would check with Don at Ohio Mustang. http://www.ohiomustang.com/ I have purchased from Classic2Current http://www.c2cfabrication.com/ for a 1967 Ranchero. They may be less expensive but the pans I bought from them were not pressed with the same lines as the original. Keep us posted on your progress.

I know this is an old post but was interested in knowing if you went with the one piece floor or with separate panels. If you went with the one piece I would be interested in hearing back from you or other members on your experience with fitting the floor.

I am installing a one piece floor now. Overall, the fitment is about 95% there but there is another 5% that requires some tweaking.

I was able to get the floor through the window without any problems. My car is on a body cart so I was unable to push it up through the bottom.

The one pc will fit but if it is going into a 71-3
Ribbing is for 65-8 or 69 - 70 depending on what floor you bought.
You will have to hammer flat the front section so it will sit on the frame rail extensions
You will have holes for seat bolts you don't need - get a rubber plug kit for the year the floor was made for
You may have to trim and flatten the section under the rear seat
