Hi All,
Aaron here, I am live in the UK, I have always loved the Mach 1 Mustangs, and about 6 weeks ago bought a 1972 Mach 1, 351.
Have decided to do it up a bit which very soon turned into much more than I originally intended, so we will see how it goes. I have never done anything like this before, so a fair few questions might appear from me.
This site popped up in google when searching for some info.
Attached are a couple of pics.
then - the day it arrived
now - as it is now with a few bits removed!
Cheers

Welcome to the Club from Virginia, USA! Looks like you are working quickly on your upgrades. Did you import the Mach or was it already in the UK? Are you keeping the same colors? Feel free to ask any questions and hopefully one of the members here can help you out.

Welcome Aaron,
Glad to have you along. Nice looking car and wow, you have jumped right in. This will be a good place to find answers to those questions that will inevitably come up. Keep us posted on your progress.
I have noticed quite a few Mach 1's have changed hands recently in England. I am curious to know if that is due to a decline in the economy creating a need for some to sell or a possible correction of overprice allowing some to buy who have wanted to for a long time. Any thoughts on that?

Hi,
Thanks for the welcomes.
Answers to questions are below.
Rare Pony
I bought it in the UK, it has been here since 72.
I looked into importing to the UK, the shipping costs were not to bad, the stinger was taxes at this end. So opted to go for something local, and spend what would be the tax dollars on doing it up.
The Colour choice is my current dilemma, I do like the white, but it was originally a dark metallic green. I know the purists like to keep original colours. As I plan to keep the car was going to stick with white, but last couple of days have seen some pics of the green with the argent silver stripes and hood, and it looks quite sharp.

The before pic does not show any of the bad bits, both lower doors need patched as well as rear sills, paint job has little bubbles every where. The floors had been done, but on close inspection a bit of a rough job. Planning to get it shout blasted soon so that may reveal some surprises.

Economy probably has a fair bit to do with it. For me, I would occasionally check ebay, and autotrader web sites to see what was about. This one came up at kinda the right time and price. My original plan ( or dream i guess) was to buy one from the USA on my way back home, being New Zealand. I have been in the UK for 11yrs now with no immediate plans to head home. So thought why not.
Cheers

I lived in New Zealand for two years. Six months in Orewa and a year and a half in Christchurch. Where's home in New Zealand?
