Dynomat
#1
First let me say that Dynomat is a brand name like bandaid, there are other companies that make this stuff. I was uncomfortable in my 1971 Mach 1 , between the headers and Flowmasters it was loud and hot. I also heard and felt every rattle thanks to stiff springs and a forty year old car. I decided to install Dynomat last summer to combat these issues. If you go to Youtube you can see lots of videos showing how to do this. It is a very big job, everything must come out and then when you pull back the underlayment you will likely find at a minimum surface rust that need to be removed and treated. I did it right and took my time, two weeks. I am very pleased with the results, I can hear the stereo and my feet aren't hot anymore. This stuff is not cheap but it is worth the added comfort. It comes in different sizes and grades, the labor is a big part of the job so think twice before you go cheap. I did the whole floor, from firewall to trunk.

Did you take pictures?

I did not take pictures, youtube has so many videos to show you how it is done that I did not think it was important to document. It is back breaking work, the mat must be rolled into and over each bump and valley. It changes the way your car feels because it both insulates and actually dampens the vibrations.

Ya I'm a Dynomat fan, I use it all the time. It definitely give the car a more solid feel by removing all the ambient noises transferred through the metals.

I was hoping we had photos of a Mach 1 being done was why I asked about photos.

Ive never actually done this to the complete interior, but let me ask you, does it leave a smell behind afterward? Confused

I do not remember a smell. The Dynamat extreme is better than the regular. Look under your stainless steel sink in the kitchen, there is likely some Dynamat there. It really does work.

Well I have never used Dynamat but I am looking forward to putting it in my current Mach 1. I love quality and detail, both in fit and in function.

After I cut a hole in my hood to add the shaker scoop I added the dynomat extreme (DE) every possible place I could under the hood mat. It made the hood slightly heavier and it also took away the hood shake a little at highway speeds. After adding the DE no more hood shake, and it made things a little quieter.

Ive also used DE in the trunk to kill the sub woofer rattle. After dynomat I had no more rattle and it actually seemed to make the bass deeper.

Although not a cheap product, it definitely does what it suppose to.

Do a little test, take a piece of metal or aluminum and drop it on the floor, then add the dynomat and then drop it, you'll fully understand if its worth it! Awesome

And expensive.

In my opinion Dynomatting the interior is one of the best things you can do to cut down road noise, vibration, and hollow sounding driving. If your running headers then that's a different story Laughing
Dynomat kills completely any sub woofer rattle in the trunk.
