Since this thread is active again, I'd like to share my recent experience when ordering parts online.
One online vendor I considered is having a "15% Off Sale!". However, I had checked their prices two days before the sale, then again during the sale. Every single price had been inflated, then discounted 15% from the inflated price. Comparing the "true" list price to the sale price revealed absolutely everything was actually discounted at 5.55%. I have also heard many recent reports of parts being out of stock and "on back-order", just as described above, with this particular vendor. I passed.
I went with Mustangs Unlimited (MU). Since I am also beginning a major restoration project, I'm going to be dropping some major coin on parts. I joined the MU buyers club for $25.00. This gets me 5% off almost everything for a year. Non-oversized items ship free with any order over $300 (pretty much any order for a Mustang). The MU sales rep was very knowledgable and notified me in advance of all shipping charges and totals. He made an extra effort to setup the packaging in a way to save me the most money on shipping the oversized parts. Thus, for ordering Mustang parts I highly recommend Mustangs Unlimited. They may not appear to the cheapest online retailer, but when you cut through the hyp, they are a very good choice in the long run.
