This winter I have turned to some improvements on my '72 Sportsroof mainly I would like to have gauges on the car instead of the idiot lights. Does anyone have a good suggestion as to where I can locate the gauges and have them look good. Has anyone put aftermarket gauges in the center console where the MachI gauges normally fit? I have a MachI dash center piece to use if the is a viable way to go.

If you have the center piece with the three holes? Just watch e bay I've seen the guages and the harness listed quite often, shouldn't be to hard to come by. JTS 71 Mach1

You can also fit aftermarket gauges in that Mach panel.

I believe that 2 5/8" aftermarket gauges will fit in. I would double check the size tho to be sure been a while

I looked into putting new aftermarket gauges into my mach 1 but would of been too dificult as the mach 1 centre dash is made for a flat face gauge - what I mean is the faces of the gauges are moulded into the fascia not attached to the oem gauges. What I done was get the centre gauge dash panel from another mustang, not the mach 1. It has a flat panel where the gauges would be in a mach 1, which I cut out. Then I fitted a 3 gauge holder into the hole. It's a type that is supposed to go into a radio aperture if you have no radio fitted. Angled towards the driver as well. Really pleased with it! Will post a picture if you're interested?
