one more timeTDC is correct i used a piston stop to find that I degreed the cam and it is correct according to the cam card supplied with it added a high toque starter it helped some a new battery made no diff solinoid was changed all cables were changed added an extra ground cleaned all the rest (grounds) changed distributor and the dampener is new the motor turns over fine with all the plugs out so its not to tight compression is at 10/1 so its not to high it won t start set at 6 degrees BTDC it takes moving timing to 4 degrees ATDC and it still pings a bit

It sounds like, if you ignore the indicated timing, the engine runs ok and doesn't get hot. I also assume the initial timing was set with the vacuum line to the distributor disconnected and plugged. Is the timing light being used a "dial back" type? If so, you might try a standard, simple timing light. The dial backs are prone to error. Assuming that is not the problem, did you have to advance or retard the cam a lot to get it degreed in? Could the crank key way be off due to a repair to the key way? Could the new damper have manufacturing error? Could the pointer have been bent? Do you have a screw in piston stop you can use to verify indicated TDC when the engine is at TDC? I know I'm reaching here but you have tried everything else.

Well I used a screw in comp cam piston stop. When its st TDC the dampener is at 0. I used a none adjustable timing light. The key ways are dot to dot so the cam is not out. As for pointer it shows 0 when its at TDC. As for manufacturer defect that is possible but if everything is at TDC then I would assume nothing is wrong. Even with checking my compression to make sure its 10.1 I can't say that I have to high of compression. So I'm also stumped on what it is. I have tried everything I can other then start the car and find my total timing which from what I have read is anywere from 32-36 degrees

Based on what you've said, I'm stumped as well. Set total timing as you mentioned and see what happens. Watch the advance with the light to see if it advances smoothly or if makes sudden large changes. I wish I could have been of some of help. If you discover what the problem is please let me know so I can add it to my "your not going to believe this one " list.

SignthankspinHow dumb can a guy feel I took the front end off to double check this problem the gear dots are lined up.I said to myself I need to make this timing scale bigger all the way across the dampener its hard for my older eyes to see it well when using the timing light.After putting it all back together i threw the light on it and there it was.My so called motorman was using the wrong timing scale the proper one was hidin under the pointer just enough any way he had it at what he thought was 6degrees advanced turned out to be more like 25 so me having it set at 4 degress retarded to was still at 15 degress advanced the two scales were just that much out and I thought he was using the right one oh well long story short its at the proper 6 degress and all is great thanks everybody Just can't wait for the International mustang meet the one I look forward to every year Signthankspin
