Need help to ID what needs to be done
#1
I want to buy this 69 Mach 1, but don't know what it will take to fix. With the picture enclosed, can you tell me what body parts are needing replaced, fixed and how difficult it would be. If there is anyone in the NW Arkansas or South Missiouri area please let me know.
Thank You.

Hello Prayers1 I live in northeast Arkansas in a little town called Tuckerman about 125 miles from the bootheel of Missouri. What town are you in?
Well now for the car. Unless this thing is dirt cheap and you have some real skills as a welder, and a body man. I'd pass on it as it is not for the faint of heart. That said, it needs full floor pans with the front extensions(the part that kicks up)the front frame rail is gone as well and thats a major structural part and not easily replaced, As you have to cut away the adjoining panels to be able to fit in the new piece, and how do you hold everything in place to assure correct alignment when reassembled. (you don't want to go down the road sideways) This requires building up some type of jig and welding / attaching it to hold everything in place while you replace the frame rail.
Even if you have the skills it's definetly a major undertaking. There are better ones out there, you just have to keep looking. If your budget can stand it! Even junk is expensive these days.Wave

Thanks for the helpful information. Your saying the front frame rail is missing. Wow! The guy is asking 3500. It has a 351W, automatic & 309 rear. The body has the M code. It has a different motor. I was going to have a friend who owns a bodyshop do the welding. What about the rear, what needs to be done on that.
I'm in Harrison. Thanks for your time any help will be greatly appreciated.

If the trunk is as bad as the inside you are right JTS71 Mach1 I think I would run away from this one too.Unless you can buy it for a few hundred bucks.as a parts car. Then shop for another.

From what I can see of the rear the torque box shows some rusting, pitts and a few holes if its still good and thick and not rusted to paper thin. Then when the floor pans are installed it can be welded in. Now if you want to restore it to a concours level. It would all have to be replaced. Hope your welder friend is a good one and works cheap!Checkthisout

Windows and back glass are OK.
I know of a guy who's selling a 70 Mach, 302 4 speed. It's in primer and pretty good shape asking 6500 obo. You can drive it while fixing it.
I love the 69's 4 headlight. Here's a pic of my first car. It had the 428 CJ. I totalled it racing a Motorcycle in 1980. I know, I was a stupid reckless kid at 17. Now I want a 69 real bad and make it just like my old one.

I forgot to add this picture. It looks like someone hacked the shock tower.

If it's running and driving, and i mean no real issues engine ok, trans ok, steering, balljoints etc.all good. Then I would get 50 /$100 dollar bills. wave them in his face and tell him they've got his name on them and see what happens?Dodgy Ya never Know you might just get a bargain.

I would jump on the 70 you can always put the 69 front on it and change the tail light panel to 69 and Not many at a regular car show would know the difference.Just a thought.Good luck
