Hello All,
Im back I finally had a local shop change my stock carb & removed the points. Car runs a lot better, could use a slight adjustment of the carb but I'll sort that out w/the shop. I ended up going with Holley 600.
Thanks guys

Then you are satisfied overall with the swap to the Holley?

The new holleys dont have all the issues that the old ones got the wrap for. About a year ago i went from an edelbock to 700 holley double pumper and it was a night and day difference in overall performance and throttle response. I have about 6000 miles on it with not one hiccup out of it. I ran edelbrocks for years because of their simplicity, but recently i been running the holleys with alot of luck. Once they are jetted and set right run the hell out of them and dont look back.

If you've got the Autolite 4300A, KEEP IT. Soon after I got my '70 351C 4V I swapped a new Holley 600CFM vac sec (fr Ford) onto the car. The only diff was more trips to the Shell station; mileage dropped but the car was certainly no faster. An aquaintance had a similar Holley on his GM; no end of grief; constantly tuning. I'd much rather drive than fix. Within a month & a half the Holley was GONE, Autolite back. Never regretted. FYI, my best ETs were w/ the Autolite. Good carb.
PS: Sometime later I installed an Edelbrock Torker under the Autolite; MAJOR improvement, pulled HARD in mid-range, mileage improved slightly. If you want a worthwhile upgrade, Torker is it.
