Hi everyone.

I should have looked for something like this a long time ago. I've been a fan of the Machs since I was in high school. I always dreamed of having one. Of course, here I am 20 years later with a wife and house I can't afford but I still get giddy when I see local listings for these bad boys!

I think if I saw a 429 SCJ for under $10k I'd probably have to sell the wife.

Anyway, I look forward to chatting with all of you. Ultimately I will probably end up buying a project Mach but I know NOTHING about fixing up carburated (sp?) cars so I will definitely be picking some brains here.

If anyone has any suggestions on how I could go about learning how to fix up cars on my spare time (apprenticeships, workshops, etc) I am all ears!

Thanks!

Glad your here! Sort of unusual to have a member that doesn't have a Mach 1 already but your on the right track!

Personally if it was me I would find one that is already in good shape. Since your learning, it could get expensive and long legged if you have to do it all yourself.

There are lots of good deals out there. However if you find a 429 SCJ for under $10k you'll be standing in line.

I saw one go the other day on mecum auction for 55k!

Welcome to the Club. I guess you know the old saying about wanting something special and you can't quite get it: "I'm always a day late or a dollar short". I've been there many times, but hang in there and opportunity may knock on your door. Probably the best buys for a Mach 1 are the 71 to 73's, they are gaining in popularity and more reproduction parts are popping up. The 69 and 70 Mach 1's are getting pretty pricey for a decent one. Then the 2003/2004 Mach 1's are getting down in the $10,000 to $14,000 range for a decent one. Good luck and feel free to join in.
