Hi there
I need your help !! I had a lifter noise on my car (351 CJ) I changed the lifters, camshaft, water pump (to stay on the safe side) and the timing chain/sprockets.. The noise is still there!
When I start the engine nothing after 1 or 2 minutes around 1500RPM this lifter noise appears Upper RPM less noise or no noise....I removed one at the time spark plugs cable to check if it was one particular cylinder.. no same with any cylinder out …Any idea ? My oil pressure is somehow inconsistent in the beginning (cold) it's in the middle of the gauge when hot it's very low..far left side..of the gauge.. .. So oil pump+ shaft? Camshaft bearings ,main bearings? How to identify which one it is?
is a valve clearance / spring also an option..I didn't notice when changing the lifters but I was so confident it was a lifter problem I maybe didn't pay enough attention..
Otherwise the engine start and run perfectly..
I guess I will check the oil pressure with an outboard gauge..stock one is maybe not reliable enough??
let me know what do you think
Thanks a lot ..guys
