The Mach1 looks awesome !!! you did a good job.
Only weird thing is the chrome frontbumper on a 72 Mach1 !??
Keep up the good work.
I like to see pictures when the engine is done.

John,
You are correct that it should have a color coded rubber bumper being a correct 72 Mach 1. If you noticed the first pic, you will see that this is actually an "upgraded" fastback, and thus was stock with a chrome bumper in the front along with a standard grill. The car was originally brown and had been "re-badged" as a Mach and painted yellow prior to my purchase. I have spent literally thousands of dollars to "complete the Mach conversion process" and have it, as correct as possible for a Mach, vintage 71/72.
If I had said that it was a '71 then it would be correct. I have no intent to imply this as anything other than a retromod 72, nor intend to enter this in Concours class, so doubt there will never be much issue. A true educated Mustang enthusiast will be able to walk up and VIN it as an 02 and not an 05 and know exactly what it is.
I have people come up to me at shows all the time on my 06GT (with Mach 1 rocker stripes) and say "what a cool Mach 1 that is" and I just laugh and say "Thank You". As anybody that would be on this website would know, there was never a 2006 Mach 1.
Most all classic owners are just happy to see other cool cars, whether they are "correct" or not, just to have them get a chance to be driven, taken to shows, and displayed. That is my intent with this pony and I have no intention to let anybody else own it...

That's funny, on the converse I've had people argue with me that my 04 Mach 1 is not real and that Ford has not made them for a long time. So I show them the original window sticker or brochure and they get a funny look on their face!
