Finally got the engine running. I broke in the cam a couple of days ago, and tonight I made a video of it. It's good to hear it again after 30 years...
amazing work on the engine build. i envy you guys in the US because finding someone here in austria to get a job like that done is almost impossible. fine balancing a v8 here costs around 600 euros=830 dollars!!
I'm back. Lots of things came up over the past six years, and I'm hoping to get on with the chassis/body restoration within a few weeks, before I'm too old.

Nice alignment turntables. Do you have the tool for measuring caster and camber?

Yes, I have a Snap on caster/camber gauge and wheel clamps from the 70's. You can tell they're old because they only go up to 16" wheel diameter.
Moved the Mach into the bay where I do all of my work. Next step is an assessment of everything and coming up with a work plan. One thing on my side is that it's been garaged since 1979, so rust is minimal, or so I think.
What you've uncovered so far looks pretty good, rust and corrosion wise. The only bad spot is the right front where the battery sits and I've never seen anyone be able to avoid that. Looks like a pretty easy fix from here. Here's hoping. JTS 71 Mach1
It's now 42 years that I've owned this car and I'm determined to get it done by next year. I had to replace a fair amount of metal considering the car has been off the road and garaged since 1979. Now that the metalwork is done, I want to get the drivetrain back in it, so at least I can hear the car run, move it around and get inspired. At that point, I'll mask off the chassis and do the bodywork. Panels are in good shape, I have NOS Ford front fenders and rear quarters have been replaced. I'm including a few highlight photos of the project.
