(09-12-2021, 09:54 AM)Mexistang I\m pretty sure its authentic. The speedometer is in kilometers instead of mph and I replaced the shocks and they were had spanish writing all over them. There is no VIN. A guy one hour from me who restores old mustangs said he had a mexican one once and he said that was how his door tag was to. He said there was only 600 of mach 1's that came out of mexico. Mine doesn't have seat belts and no smog or pollution crap on the motor which i think the u.s. ones did in 72. https://www.flickr.com/photos/10632426@N05/13193773264 Wrote:(09-12-2021, 09:10 AM)JTS71 Mach1 Wrote: Welcome to the Club. Lots of good people, and lots of info.
I guess I didn't know they made Mustangs in Mexico way back then? Obviously according to the door tag, they did. One thing peculiar to me is the door tag is an embossed plate glued to the door. It doesn't look like an Official Ford Style body tag. In America they were all a smooth decal type sticker, on the back of the door, in the drivers door jamb. But this was Mexico in the early 70's. and I never saw one to compare it with so who knows? One of our members here lives in Mexico, Maybe he can shed some light on the issue. Is there a ID tag under the hood? Or on the radiator support?
