I remember buying Ditzler paint back in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Ditzler and Dupont were the two big names. There wasn't PPG back then. At least I don't recall seeing or hearing of any PPG products back then. I don't know if PPG purchased Ditzler or Ditzler changed names to PPG.
If you are using anything other than a gloss black finish, make certain it is a two stage paint with a clear coat. If it's a single stage paint they get chalky with age and you cannot get any wax on it.
My 69 is painted with single stage acrylic enamel with a gloss hardener. For the reasons above I went with a gloss black finish on the hood. The gloss black is not original but the paint type is, so it's close enough for me.
