Sequential tail light issue.
#1
Ok, so I picked up the sequential tail lights from Cj Pony parts. They did not have any actual answer for me, basic customer service response. They are the full light lens system. The driver side turn signal portion only blinks, it will not sequential, even after I move the switch back and forth from right to left. Has anyone installed these and this happen? if so, what was the problem, what is the correction. I do have the updated flasher for sequential lights and I do have the hood scoop sequential lights. I'm going through the wiring slowly but surely and all the lights work, but this needs fixed. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks everyone,
Patrick

It is part number TLLED104. It is the all in one tail light.

I will be working on it tomorrow and will take photos or a short video of what is happening. The brightness is also different I noticed.

Well I have tried to upload a short video of what is going with the tail lights, but I can't get it uploaded, any advise on that would be good. After wiring up the hood scoop lights and getting them working, the issue still remains. I have now ordered the flasher for the LED turn signals (HW2811- from CJ Pony Parts), I will see if that works. I also did install just a normal flasher but it did not work when the hazard switch was pulled, the lights just stayed on. Hopefully this new flasher will work. I'm figuring that the LED turn signal flasher that I got with my first Sequential lights set up went bad over the time of it sitting and potentially shorted itself. Will update as I get it figured out.

I read on the website

"Please Note: It's recommended that you upgrade to a new under-dash LED flasher. Please see CJ Pony Parts # HW2811"

hopefully that flasher you ordered will fix your problem.
did you put LED's on the front also?

keep us posted on the outcome of the flasher install.

Woo hoo!! the problem is fixed! Yes the new LED Flasher helped. Now everything works, turn signals, flashers and brake lights. The other issue I had was that the driver tail light was dimmer than the passenger side one. This issue was that the manufacturer of the LED tail lights doesn't indicate which wire is the power and which is the ground, because both are black wires. To fix this issues, I cut the tail light wiring and installed 2 female and 2 male connectors so I could test the connection before making it permanent. Well if you have them backwards, the lights will not work properly, I got lucky on the passenger side with the wire connection being correct. Maybe the manufacturer will at least put some indicator on the wiring for which is the power wire so people that upgrade to these LED lights will not have these issues in the future. A 1cent piece of tape keeps cars worth thousands parked because of poor wire indicating. I will be putting that in my review about these sequential lights at CJ Pony. Its not CJ's problem.

One other part of the light issue I had was my brake lights would turn on when the battery was connected, brake pedal was not even being pressed. I went ahead and replaced the brake light switch with a new one and bingo, it worked great. Go figure, items over 20 years old would be bad when not used that much.

Now I can continue on with the car and start putting the interior back together. As for the front lights, they are normal lights, not LED.

Hopefully this will help anyone else in the future that will come across this same issue.

Good deal glad to hear all is fixed. Proper instructions are always nice to have when installing any electrical accessories. Thanks for the update, as it will be great if it helps somebody in the future.
