One piece headliners?
#1
I was looking at a one piece headliner to replace mine, a mouse chewed some holes in it Sadcry
I found two, one on Mustangstofear and the other is TMI from cjponyparts.
has anyone used these or seen them in a car?
I was going to have someone install a replacement one, but i dont really want another mouse to chew it.
its a battle with mice, i throw mothballs around the garage doors, set traps and some how they find there way in.
anyway let me know what you think of those headliners

thanks

I've heard drier sheets for softening clothes will keep mice out of a car.  Never tried it myself.  They have bait boxes for mice and rats that are made so other animals and pets cannot get to the bait.  Those seem to work for me.

I guess you can be thankful they are not rats.  Mine is the last house on a residential street and next to me on one side is a home on several acres of land.  It was there well before the area was developed.  Since they have a few farm animals and birds with different feeds we get rats from their property every summer.  If you are outside at the right time you can often see one running down the sidewalk.  They haven't got into any of our cars or house.  But I keep several rat bait boxes out along the fence separating the property and make certain the bait in them is full.  Last summer I caught 5 rats in old school traps and shot one with a BB gun in less than a week before I resorted to using bait boxes.

As far as the headliner, I think the mice will chew through either type.  I prefer the look of the original style.  But, I'm sure the one piece would be easier to install.  On another forum I sometimes visit Mustangstofear brags about their one piece headliner.  Actually, Mustangstofear brags about every product they offer and only responds in threads to try to sell something they offer.

I hate those pesky little varmints!  My headliner is first thing I check on my car during and after the winter storage.  My Mustang exhaust pipes exit from the side. When I run the car over the winter to get the motor turning the garage fills up with carbon monoxide pretty quickly so the mice either find a new home or die from the fumes.  I have to say I haven't had any problems with mice...knock on wood!

Are you sure about Mustangs To Fear?  Their site only shows up to '70 models for the one-piece headliners.

I was happy to see the TMI offerings at CJPP - I might have to look into that, even though mine came out great (doing it myself, even), I could use an extra inch or 2 of headroom.

I have heard the TMI liners have some glue issues sometimes and the covering has bubbles in it.
but i havent heard anything about the mustangstofear ones,  thats why i was asking to see if any has them or seen them.  Smile

Oh crap - my bad!  Mine's a '71, and the only other Mustang forum I'm on is for '71-'73s... I totally missed the part about yours being a '70, and of course, completely ignored the idea that there are other years of Mach 1s for some reason.

I say go for the one-piece when you get the mouse thing sorted out.  I'm still thinking I might swap mine for the TMI one-piece... gotta decide how bad I want it, I guess... and then get some of the other things finished up that I've been neglecting.

another factor is the mustangstofear liner is like $560
the TMI liner at cjponyparts is $345
but i try not to let the price control what i put in my car quality is what matters to me.

In this situation my guess is the price difference doesn't merely represent quality difference.  Mustangstofear is a small business so mfg cost is probably much higher.  I may be jaded though.  The person with Mustangstofear that posts on the other forum I sometimes visit seems very arrogant.  And they only post to try to sell their products and never to assist others.  Similar to the attorney chasing the ambulance.  They use the forum as a free advertising source which just seems wrong.  Many don't seem to mind but it bothers me and I won't purchase anything from them.

TMI Products being a larger operation (with many other products for many other car models) might have a way of producing these items requiring less effort and cost.  I remember an article only a few years ago in Mustangs Monthly about Mustangs To Fear making their first one-piece headliner using a customer's car to prototype it... which leads me to believe that they're still establishing themselves as a major vendor.

I'm not saying there's a quality issue or difference, but rather maybe it's still more of a 'custom' thing for MTF than TMI when it comes to 'mass-production,' which also could help explain the difference in cost as you mentioned.
