Exhaust Tips
#1
No, it's not THAT kind of exhaust tip- For anyone interested in keeping their exhaust pipes looking like new, I've found the answer. Whether it's your daily driver, Sunday driver, or show car, the exhaust system gets exposed to some of the nastiest conditions. Heating up, cooling down, exposure to the elements and road salt (for your daily drivers) etc.... I discovered that VHT carries a high heat (2,000 degrees F) spray paint in satin clear. Give your new pipes and mufflers a generous coat of this stuff before and after installation and the stuff will look new for a long time. I coated the new exhaust on my son's 2004 GT in 2012. The car is a summer driver, but it has been taken out on occasion in the winter months and has had exposure to road salt and salt brine which is highly corrosive. The pipes look almost new to this day. The stuff is about ten bucks for an 11 oz. can, but it's definitely worth the investment and time. This paint is tough stuff and WILL NOT burn off. Add a few more coats around welded-on hangers and clamping areas. Just my helpful hint for the day. GXR

VHT makes great products. I also used their high heat paint on my exhaust and the pipes still look new. Very durable stuff.

Great tip...thank you for sharing!

I used that product on my DD. I had the (factory cast iron) headers sand blasted first and then 2 coats of cast iron colour. Lasted 3 yrs and even then did not look too bad.
