grille and lower grille color - wvayn - 07-31-2020

I would like to  know on a 70 Mach, the color of the lower grille panel. I also purchased a new grille which is black, should this be painted the gray color?

Look at National Parts Depot's catalog.  They have some specific paint colors in aerosol cans.  You might be able to find the correct color for the grill and lower panel.

Original color was consistent with the dark argent gray. I have seen other Mach I's with the black grille. Is this acceptable or should I paint mine. The lower grille (trim) panel was a gray. Should it be painted to match the new grille. I have cans of the dark argent that they sell, and not pleased with the results.

What's wrong with the finish of the dark argent color?  Poor quality spray cans or just not happy with the color?

I have found on painted trim items finishing with a Satin or Gloss Clear coat improves the finish a lot.  SEM automotive paints are very good and have both in spray cans.  Just choose your preference.

I'd try to stick with the original color, but it's your car and if you are not happy with the original color for some reason, use black.

Back to my original question. I had the lower grille panel polished which removed the painted surface. I am looking to repaint that surface, which includes the headlight trims. Having purchased a new grille which is black, should the grille be painted the gray color or left alone. And the headlight trim (lower area) pieces that are painted, should they be painted  black to match the black grille or the gray?
