Wow stevec2004 that really stinks no doubt! I wrecked my 72 Mach a few weeks back but other than the front bumper, the grill, the lower valance, and the spoiler Ive pretty much fixed the car. I was very lucky it didn't damage more, but it still cost me 3000.00 USD! Finding parts is the biggest pain in repairing.

Thanks for registering here glad to have you!

Thought I'd post a few more photos. From pre the accident in 2006 and the accident photos,I then decided to spray it white and after I got bored with white it became blue out of lots of rattle cans!! Hopefully this winter I'll get things done properly Blush

RE: Another 1971 Mach 1 - Mach 1 Club - 11-27-2009

Is that hood on the car after the accident the original hood from the accident or did you end up replacing the hood with an aftermarket? I'm asking because I wanna know how the after market hood fit compared to the original.

RE: Another 1971 Mach 1 - stevec2004 - 11-27-2009

I put the original hood on my convertible and brought a repro one from Mustangs Unlimited,it's not a great fit as you can see from the pictures.I cannot get the drivers side to fit properly no matter how I adjust it it always has that gap that you can see in the pictures Confused

I'm not sure who mate it but I seem to remember the box saying made in Taiwan!!

RE: Another 1971 Mach 1 - Mach 1 Club - 11-28-2009

Most after market reproduction parts are made in Taiwan. The companies that make these parts use there own toolings. But the companies are Dynacor, Sherman and a few others. I need to replace my hood and Im afraid to pull the trigger until I can find a good repro. Im tempted to fix mine but just cant find a guy that says they can fix it good as new.
