Hi,
New member as of today.  Just acquired a ‘69 about 10 days ago and am beginning to sort through some electrical issues.  I will most likely have to lean on the expertise of other members as I dig deeper into the problems.

Mostly though I plan to just enjoy the ride.  Weather In SGA is great,  so I hope to get out on the road soon!

Hi Y'all,

Just found this group...glad to be part of the Mach 1 family.  Just purchased a 1973 H-Code Mach 1 last week and have been doing some research on what's out there...

This is a locally owned car and I'm the 3rd owner...  It has 46,861 miles on it and looks to be in great shape.  Is been sitting in a garage until 2001 with the original owner.  His son then had it for a while and then the guy I got it from last week had it for about a year and is been sitting.  Engine sounds great.  Rear drive shaft cause it to shake a little, but otherwise, seems to be mechanically and cosmetically pretty good.

Even have the original title to the car (the 2nd owner kept the original title) and all the paperwork including the window sticker...wish Mustangs still cost this much today :-)

Spent a day cleaning the engine and interior...and will start to tackle it one thing at a time.

Did run into a problem...trying to figure out why the instrument panel/radio/headlight not working...check the fuse, seems to ok. not sure if the contact in the fusebox is dirty or what.  can't find anything online on what to look for in trying to trouble shoot that

Looking forward to bringing this baby back to is original beauty!

Hello all, I'm new to the forum,  but not to Mustang's. I just recently purchased a Mach 1, in fact it should be arriving tomorrow.  It is a true one owner, unrestored car, black on black, 351 4v, 4 speed, AC, tachometer, 126k miles. The owner saved almost all the original paperwork including purchase order, warranty card, temp plates, etc. Has anyone here installed the rear slats/louvers that only use the double sided tape? I would like to add them, but I don't want to drill into such an original car.

Hi guys, I have just registered on here after following a link for Mach 1 owners to join.
So my story, I am from the U.K. where I run a 99 GT convertible. Had this for 6 years. We have also a vacation property in Kissimmee, Florida where we have enjoyed holidays since 2001. Now 2 years ago I was able to take early retirement after 47 years service with 2 different companies.
So we now spend 3 months twice in a year in Florida. Now last year around end September I was browsing through various Mustang forums I belong to. It was late evening when I spotted an ad pop up for a 1969 Mach 1. It had been in storage since 1986 ish. Engine was apart & had been bored, crank ground with new bearings, cam bearings, pistons & rods. More of the car was apart but ad suggested it was a sound body. Price was firm. Now I am very impulsive. Having bought my 99 at a show, having not even been looking for a mustang.
So I sent a message to the seller, emphasising my interest & asking for 1st refusal. He agreed to my request even though others started adding to thread with their interest.
So main issue, well 2. First my wife, telling her we were going on a road trip. She was stunned to say the least. Reason, we were in Kissimmee & the car was in north Texas.
So next few days was a rush getting money transferred from UK, sorting out a route & a plan for journey. Booking hotels. I was getting calls from seller asking if I was seriously coming to view.
He even had an offer from a potential buyer to offer me $500 to not go & he would buy car.
So all declined & we set off on a Thursday pm to drive to Texas. 2 hotels & arriving at sellers area at another hotel on Saturday pm. Drive in what else but a New S550 Convertible.
Went to view car that afternoon & then back again on the Sunday to view rest of parts that had been in sellers roof space. Deal was done & I had a 69 mustang mach1

Good Morning, New I just found this Forum today and Joined.  I am looking forward to meeting a lot of Mustang Owners and Talking Cars.

I am a returning Mustang / Mach1 owner having just buying my 5th Mach1, not all at one time mind you, but spread over more years than I like to admit.  I was into Street Rodding for many years and enjoy both Building and Driving Old Cars.
I hope that we can all have some fun and enjoy our common interest in both Old and Not So Old Cars.

I would love to chat with any members here and get to know you so we may all enjoy the Sport better.
Please message me anytime you will.

Thanks!!
Thumbup

Hello all. I have a 1970 Mach1 that's in the process of body repairs and paint. The original color is dark ivy green with black striping on the hood, however I was thinking of painting the hood all black like some of the 69 Mach1's.

Has anyone painted their 70 Mach1 hood all black?

I would appreciate pro and con comments.

Thank you

I bought the car when I was about 17 and it was in bad shape except for the engine (428CJ).  It was the second car that I did body work on and painted so it was OK but for a 17 year old it was fun to drive.  I started to actually restore it in the 90s but the girls came along and other projects like work got in the way and it sat until about 4 years ago.

Now it is almost finished and we are looking at some of the details.  I am not a purist so hopefully that does not upset too many people.  I am fixing it up to drive and upgrading brakes and other equipment.  I am down to picking wheels and am having trouble finding wheel tire combination that I like.  As best I can tell from reading articles and searching the Internet 245/45R17 is very popular so I bought one and put it on an 8"/4.5 backset wheel and it looks way too small.  After measuring it looks like 245/45R18 would work on the front and 255/45R18 would work on the back.  What do you like on your cars?
