Hi
SO yesterday I picked up my Mach 1 from Exeter. A 125 mile journey home.
Got some waves and thumbs up along the route - Mustangs are still rare enough over here and when I refuelled near home- got asked all about it by a chap and his young son which made my day.
Of course refuelling here is £1.39 per litre (about $8.20 per gallon! so you have to be an enthusiast over  here)
the SUn has come out today and it looks like one of the best days of the year so far  -so going to venture out soon.
I am delighted so far and love the noise.
WIll post some pics and reviews as I get used to ownership.
Cool Cool A new Mach1 owner! From the other side of the pond! Way to go on scoring a New Mach1. Can I ask what it costs over there? Is it relatively comparable to here in the US?  Good to have you. You are,  I believe the third member on the site, with a New Mach1. Waiting to get your perspective on it. As it must be quite different from the general "British" / European cars. It should be a very interesting point of view.

SSig_welcome4  To the club! Lots of info here on the Original Mach1's. Now we have 3 New owners to lean on for the much needed knowledge on the Newest Itineration of the Mach1. Pictures are appreciated. (Gives us something to Drool over)

Hi
Yes over here that car cost me £59k - but built in are a couple of UK sadly unique one off costs.
The  first year vehicle road tax is £2500 - which they add to price of car to take the shock away then its £600 every year - this is emission gauged and a nonsense but there you go.
My car does not have recaros which would be £1200 more - but  has everything else - I  think you can get a handling pack in US but not available here.
My £59k also included free servicing for 3 years and extending warranty from 3 to 5 years which was about £1000.
If you consider what EUropean cars of this kind of genre cost (AMG 63 Merc, M4 BMW etc all above £75k new- Mustang good value and rarer and cooler)
Plus - Mustang is soooo good looking - I had two fabulous encounters yesterday - people asking me what it was, how fast, cool colour etc - which you would never  get in the German cars.

It finally stopped raining
Big outing tomorrow - so will taker lots more pics - but for now - "Phiddy cent" our 14 year old cat approves
So - 812 miles covered so far.

I will put some Pros and Cons - to start the feedback for those interested.

PRO's -
  • Looks are - "sex on a stick" no other description - that was actually one of my 26 year old daughter's friends comments
  • Road presence - People smile at you
  • Exhaust noise - You smile
  • There are hardly any mustangs and no Mach 1's in this part of England
  • The black with Black and red stripe colour scheme is awesome
  • Remote start by app - brilliant fea ture and scares onlookers to death!
  • My Mode is great for customisation once you get used to it - each mode makes a difference
  • Driving modes are very different and apparent - Track suspension on a UK bumpy road will get you a Physio appointment - Normal is boring - Quiet mode - why did they do that? -  Sport is a good balance.
  • Tight and very responsive steering - turning in is Ferrari like for a big car
  • Brakes are very good, feel, power and sensitivity
  • Boot (trunk) space for a sports car - its HUGE - what do you guys put in them over there? bodies?
  • Engine bay - fabulously open and not covered by plastic to only allow "insert Laptop here" type of view that all European performance cars now have migrated to.
  • Tyres - Grip - we get Michelin Pilot Sport S tyres as standard on the MAch 1 - remember a summers day here - starts at 9am with brilliant sunshine, blue skies as far as the eye can see and 24 degrees Centigrade (75 F) - by lunchtime Hailstones and 9 degrees (48F) and roads as slippery as an eel.
  • Sound system - amazing for car at this price versus BMW/Mercedes or Range Rover.
  • 10 speed auto box - using flappy panels its smoother than letting the car do it, but you feel that you only need 6 gears really especially down the box approaching typical UK B road downhill , very narrow etc.
  • It has START button surrounded by a RED light - what more could you ever want!
CONS -
  • Comfort - Seats are awful - I have non Recaro - but they just do not have enough adjustment and I find myself in between Rake settings which are only on a lever and lumbar / seat height and steering wheel all at positions I wish I could be just in between - Why are all adjustments not electric? this point is my major problem at the moment and I need to find a way of sorting it. I am 6 foot 1 / 58 years old , 14 stone (200 pounds) and pretty nimble - so its not me.
  • Gear change for Auto box when the car is doing it - Really lumpy 1st to 4th - in sport mode makes you leave your seat when cold - compare it to Nissan GTR or Ferrari 430 in Auto - they have made this quite brutal by comparison - but it is a muscle car - Hellcat I use to own was much much smoother to be fair.
  • Kick down is hopelessly delayed - maybe I am being a bit frugal in initial ownership !
  • Wing mirrors - hopleselly small and restricted vision - probably not an issue in US - but here a really big thing - I will adapt
  • Aircon and demist is surprisingly weak - again because we need these things so much more here - maybe I am being fussy
  • Steering wheel mounted buttons require the driver to be quite dextrous and agile otherwise you press the wrong ones unless you looking at them - which on UK roads not a great idea
  • Some of this electric wonderment has its faults - go over a pothole and the menu will default to the phone menu! Sometimes exhaust mode change does not work - it might be  a software issue so mine is going in on Tuesday for a software update and dealer diagnostic - they are lending me a car! - A Fiesta 1.2 - do u even have the min US? I hope not for your sake.
Anyway - have big trip planned for Late July into Cornwall (where Biden is now) so cant wait and loving it for now.
