So, I finished the First Modification to the 2021 Mach 1 today...I installed a passenger side oil separator for the Coyote Engine.  I was a little frustrated the current available Ford Performance oil separator wouldn’t fit my car, but the aftermarket one (JLT 3.0) was super easy to install...literally took longer to unbox the thing than it did to install it.  I was going to upload a picture, but for some reason it won’t let me.  Anyway...the fun begins.

What does the oil separator, separate? And why is it necessary on the Coyote engine?  Confused

The term “oil separator” is a slang term for a precision molded canister with unique filter media which separates oil vapor from the air within the engines PCV system.  Also referred to as a “catch can” sometimes.  Ford Performance produces one for the “driver” and “passenger” sides of the engine.  They are recommended for “track use”.  I believe they should come installed on the vehicles from the factory, but of course they don’t. I think they were developed to help the engine run cleaner and more efficient.  I understand it has something to do with the direct injected fuel systems and high crank case pressure on high horse power/boosted (turbo) engines, not really sure though.  Since I plan to spend a little time on the track, I wanted to install them.  If I could post a picture, I would, but the system isn’t letting me.
