Its has been years (20 unfortunately) that I have been restoring my 69 Mach 1. The time line was the cause of a lazy body shop. But I am now in charge of the re assembly of the car. (Real quick, I have owned this car since I was 17, I am now 51, I was driving it daily when I decided to restore it). I took it from the body shop and sent it to a local race engine shop to get the engine running, trans installed, driveshaft and exhaust installed. Basically get it up and running. Now I have it in my sisters garage working on it because I don't have a garage. The issue I am constantly running into is trying to remember how everything was on the car when I took everything off. I did all the upgrades 20 years ago, frustrating, because I basically have to repurchase and install new stuff that was new 20 years ago with no mileage on any part.
I have started to work on the doors and the glass installation with the wiring. The glass rolls up nice and easy. I have years of messing with these doors and glass and they are not fun, but once you get it, don't mess with them.
I converted the 4 drum brakes to 4 wheel power disc brakes, all new interior, carpet, headliner and installing the new 3 point seat belts. I also installed the Sniper EFI system to allow for better running. The suspension is slightly upgraded with a rear sway bar and subframe bracing. This car will handle much better than it ever did from the dealer.
I have also made the side scoops functional too air my rear brakes when I drive around. I have been wanting to do this for years to make these scoops functional. The cool factor will be very high just to have them. i have also tinted the windows because I don't have A/C, I just want all engine, all horsepower. I don't even have power steering. that may be something I invest in later now that I am not a young guy any more.
I am also going through the wiring behind the dash and with the wiring schematics and online videos, it has made the task a little easier and less of a hassle. Still confusing though.
Here are a couple of pics of it.
Time to get this car done!! Will keep updating on progress.
