I have this shifter which I am unable to identify what car it is from and was hoping another member here has seen one like it.  I am interested in selling it but since I do not know what car it is from it doesn't help finding the right person who made need it.

The first picture is the shifter (the one on the left) next to a 66/67 Fairlane shifter.  The second picture is the shifter by itself.  You can see they look almost identical except the reverse lock out handle (I think that is what you call it) which is curved not straight like the Fairlane.  I have never seen a lock out handle like this one.  I assume it belongs to a mid to full size Ford with a bench seat but I am not sure of that eiither.

If anyone happens to know what car this shifter belongs to it would be helpful information for me.

Thank you,

Mike
That's a strange one, I dont believe I've ever seen one quite like that??? what did it bolt down to? There had to be some mechanism for it to work? I haven't got a clue? Sorry

Thanks for responding,  it is a strange one.  I can't seem to see another one like it anywhere on the internet.  I wish there was a site that showed the different shifters Ford made.  Anyway, if I understand your question correctly, the shifter bolts up to the shift box on the tail housing of the transmission.  There are 2 bolts that secure it to the box.  I attached a picture of where the shifter mounts to.

I could tell from the picture that it had to be something like you describe, I've just never seen one like that. I've seen several that have a bolt on shifter handle but it bolts horizontally to a stub sticking up out of the shifter box/ mechanism. It's a new one on me.

Don't know about the length.  But it looks like the 4sp shifter I've seen in 65-67 Mustangs.

Yeah that looks like what it is. Just never seen one out, I guess all the ones I've seen were in cars, and covered with a shifter boot.

The shifter is 14 inches long.  Although it looks like a Mustang shifter at first glance it is much different in regards to length and where the bend is.  Plus the reverse lockout lever is very unique as it is not straight across like the the Mustangs or Fairlanes.  I believe it is for a 1960's mid to full size Ford or Mercury car with a bench seat.  It would probably work in my Fairlane but I already have 2 other Fairlane shifters plus the angle of the bend is slighty different pointing more inward toward the driver.

It is definitely a cool shifter.  I wish I could identify the car it belongs in.
Is there any kind of Ford stamping number on it? If so, I could look in my Ford parts catalog.

Hey Black Jade,

Unfortunately the only stamping on it is the number 2.  It would be awesome if your Ford catalog could identify the shifter based on a single digit.  I reposted the picture with the lonely number.

Thanks for the help and keep me posted.
