Full Version: Has anyone removed the drip rail?

I saw this done on one of those car shows on TV. They cut the drip rail off and then smoothed it out. I thought it looked pretty cool. Has anybody done this?
I don't believe that anyone on this site has done that or at least they have not documented the attempt if they have.

That would be pretty involved and maybe a bit Avant Gard for "us". :)

Thanks Steven. You guys will get a kick out of me sometimes. I can be a bit random in my questions and thinking. At least that's what the wife says!!! :-)

I have followed drip rail removal on other sites and on similar cars (if not a 71-73). They usually go hand in hand with flush mounted glass.

Peter Winn - of Targa Tasmania fame is making his current 71 Mach 1 a liftback so as to access his spare tire more readily but it has been quite a while since any update.

Over on the 71-71 Mustang site there are quite a few custom builds going on as well.

A drip rail removal and the flush mounted glass are both improvements to the design if originality are not a concerned.
