I'm back I'm going to move this site forward. I'm also going to try to push really hard to make http://SellMyMustang.com more successful. I honestly think adults are tiring of Facebook and Twitter.
The reason no websites are any good anymore is because of facebook.
The conspiracy theorist in me thinks its a way to make people stupid, the dumbing down of America in high gear.
5 years ago I could go online and find anything I wanted information wise about anything, usually with a full description and video. WHY? Because there were huge chat communities that discussed every topic under the sun which could be found easily in search engines. Now its all on Facebook, and it keeps getting pushed further down the page never to be seen again after each new posting, or meme, or political posting or whatever. But in most cases its all gibberish.

What all this means to you guys?
What is your opinion of the internet?

Do you think its possible for people to use more than Facebook? Is it worth the effort of me trying to revive the Mustang population?

What are your experiences online these days?
Do you think there is a need for a FREE classifieds site exclusively Mustang? Or is that a complete waste of my time??

Believe me, YOUR OPINION matters to me!!
I use the internet quite a bit but I refuse to Facebook or Twitter. If I am looking to buy or sell there are plenty of places for that besides the social media sites. Dave R.
Well SellMyMustang.com is already going. Im just trying to figure if it has any legs with a little effort.
Do you only use Craigslist and Ebay for your Mustang stuff?
As you probably remember, you and I have discussed these very topics several times on these pages, and I agree with you.
I don't think the intent of "face book" was for it to become what it has, or else somebody was very devilish in it's creation? I think it has morphed into almost a living breathing thing, that sucks people in and slowly desensitize them to the point they become mindless sheep. and follow the crowd. Without the courage to stand up for what is right or moral anymore, because on "Face Book" you never actually "Face" anyone! So the lie you told, is taken as gospel, because no one can disprove it. I told one of the kids on my School Bus the other day, "Just because it came out of your mouth does not make it true." You should have seen the look on his face, he was taken aback because I didn't by his Bull ! On Face Book no one could have disputed him and he would have felt justified in his lie. If you tell yourself something long enough, you start to believe it, no matter how big a lie it is. I believe that's the danger of face book. It allows lying and has no check or balance system. Which simply promotes the worst to come out in people. JTS 71 Mach1
To answer your questions. No I don't think Face Book is going away but I do think there is room for things other then Face Book on the internet. The problem I see is Promotion. How do you get your name out there ??? Maybe you could link your site to Ebay , craigslist, etc. So the people can find you. I'm definitely not a marketing person so maybe someone else has some ideas? JTS 71 Mach1
I have a Linked In account but that is all. I don't use any other social media. Like a couple other members here I am also a member of 69stang.com. I find myself browsing through there when activity is slow here. This is merely an observation between the us and 69stang.com. The 69stang members tend to be younger (than myself as well) and do more of their own repairs and modifications. Some doing repairs for the first time and some trying to perform modifications. I think for that reason there tends to be more questions and dialog associated with those questions. Not saying it's better or worse, just a different environment.

As far as buying and selling parts. My first source online for used parts is EBay. The process is simple and fairly easy unless you are outbid in an auction. I have been fortunate so far with buying and selling used parts on EBay. I would like other reliable online sources for used parts from private parties. Very often, what is on EBay are overpriced common parts nobody wants and not the more rare sought after parts.

Best Regards,
Mike
My thought when I started SellMyMustang.com was to make it free for all Mustang people. If you are selling parts and it costs you to sell, those people pass that cost on to the buyers. Making parts more expensive So I thought I might offer ONLY Mustang items.

Keep the thoughts and opinions coming!!

We are working on the smiles, there will be some changes coming [Image: biggrin.gif]
I use the internet almost daily but I do not use any social media. I use to visit the 71-73 forum but it seemed to become more social than car oriented so it has been a long time since I visited.

I do most of my Mustang shopping "locally" using Craigslist. I have purchased a few things via E-bay but very little of that was for my cars.

I know that I am not your normal person so basing anything on my habits or opinions would not be beneficial.

What or how are the current SEMA companies doing business?
I don't use facebook at all.

I have been lucky and haven't needed to buy many parts for my Mustang but my favourite buy sell site is Gumtree.

What I have noticed by watching American tv shows is many people over there prefer to sell their items by going into pawn shops etc. If they advertised privately they could get far better money for their stuff. Do people not want the hassle of selling or are they not wanting to deal with buyers face to face?

Interesting observation! Since I live somewhere between (U.S. resident and not) I will be interested in the response. I would think that it is another time when what is portrayed on TV and reality is two different things.

In times past pawn shops were mostly found near military bases. We had them in Bullhead City but I assumed that that was because that was a gambling center. Are they everywhere in the US?

Are they a product of vices (gambling, drugs etc.)? Do most people hawk their goods planning to buy them back within the given time frame but then loose them due to their vice?

Interesting observation.
