Hi
Ive noticed that the front shocks are finished, the car Bounces like a basket ball. Im thinking of these from summit.

KYB Shocks & Struts KG4504 - KYB Gas-a-Just Shocks and Struts

And question no 2 , a rear sway bar ? Is it nedd to have or nice to have ? How muck will it improve handling etc ?

There are a lot of different preferences for shocks. Those KYB shocks are stiff. On a smaller lighter car like a 70 and older Mustang the ride is noticeably more harsh. They have been known to break mounts. I had them on a 4WD Ford Ranger long bed pick-up and it rode too rough. But the 71-73 Mustangs are fairly big and heavy so they should be okay.

I've always had a rear sway bar on my cars and trucks. I know they help but cannot compare them to without a rear sway bar. I would install one if your car doesn't already have one.

Good info for future reference. I must add a photo of the front shocks we pulled from her '70. They matched, but not each other and one just colapsed under gravity with the lightest touch to start.
Worst of all one was a goldy colour while the other was silver. No wonder we had problems.

The local store have Gabriel GAS shocks in stock. They are half price of the KYB shocks, for what I found on the net they seems to work just fine.
Im probably ordering the swaybar

I'd probably go that route instead of the KYB's high pressure gas shocks.

I am using Gabriel Strider adjustable shocks. They are not a gas shock but have three firmness adjustments that you set manually. I don't think they are available any more. They were a lower end performance shock that replaced the Gabriel Adjustable E shocks.

The Gabriel Gas shocks will do a good job, and adding the rear sway bar is a nice upgrade/want. That will improve handling and not kill your wallet. Ford should have put them on, to begin with in my opinion. Hope it helps JTS 71 Mach1

Agreed.

Evidently since Ford did not put one on, it was evidently not a necessity. Should one be added - absolutely. You will enjoy the difference.

Wen to the local shop for Gabriels, the only had one front damper. So Im ordering online instead.

Out with the bad in with the Good
When removing one of the front shocks I had use a tiger saw to cut the bolt, it was only spinning and I couldnt get a grip
