Well fellow Mach 1 lovers this has been a tough week for me. Last week I got my 72 out of the shop, complete with a totally rebuilt rear end. It came factory with Trac-Loc & a 3:25/1 ratio. When I got it, it had been converted to a 3.71/1 ratio. I figured if you're gonna have fun you might as well have A LOT of fun, so I had them install 3:91 gears. Man what a difference in the bottom end, off the line power!! So I decided to drive it to a Doctor appt. on Monday. Long story short, back roads + curves + messing with the radio = Mach 1 in a cornfield. I can't believe it happened but it did. Mechanically the cars not bad, it needs a new radiator, fan, and shroud. Cosmetically it's a bit worse, front spoiler damaged, same with valance and both front fenders are a bit rolled over in front of the wheels. Nobody was hurt, and no other car was involved. I felt like a stupid High Schooler with more car than I could handle. I've got full ins. coverage (minus deductible) it should be Okay in the long run. My wife has never been crazy about the car & thinks I should sell it & put the money into my '69 Cougar. Of course the final say is mine but maybe she's right. At this point I just don't know.
As always I look forward to any and all feedback,
Saddened but not defeated,

Hey Keith...sorry to hear about the unfortunate mishap and glad it hear you are alright. Stuff happens and we have all been there at one point or another. Listen, my advice, which is dependent on the extent of the damage, is to take the insurance proceeds and get the car fixed. As the old adage goes...once bitten twice shy.
+1 on above plus put back the taller diff ratio!!
Well as they say, Sad That Sucks! Glad your ok, and nothing hurt but the pride, and a little sheetmetal. Fix it and then decide wether or not to sell it. As it is always worth more fixed, then torn up. Just my thoughts JTS 71 Mach1
