Vehicle: Unmodified 1970 Mach 1. San Jose built.
The power steering ram has new seals and does not leak. All cleaned out and fresh fluid flushed through.
It seems to have un-equal steering input effort required left and right.
I heard about a need to 'centralise/reset' the control valve but it does not get a mention (I could find) in the Haynes Manual.
Is there such a process? If there is, how is it done?

Thanks in advance, M1FF.
I've only rebuilt a couple of Ford's old control valves. I've haven't come across anything about centering the control valve.

The control valve may need rebuilding. If you decide to rebuild it, be certain to also get the new bushing that goes into the end that has the stud attached to the steering arm. It is typically not included in rebuild kits. I've seen it in NPD's catalog. Actually, NPD seems to have more complete kits for these than I have seen at parts stores.

Just thinking, are the caster settings in the front wheel alignment okay?

Best Regards,
Mike
Pretty sure I did that bush - The parts 'kit' I got was from an indi power steering/auto trans shop and included everything I could need and more.
I have had a wheel alignment. Must admit never being 'happy' with it. Maybe I will take it to my current 'favourite' as I think I get a better job from them. Will be some time before I get there though - work shifts roster.
Thanks for the insights.
