My '69 Mach 1 has the trip odometer but there is no reset knob nor is there a hole in the lens for a reset knob. Do I understand correctly that the reset knob is actually attached to the lens? Does the reset knob screw into the trip odometer or is it splined into place or what. Damn those previous owners. Thanks. Dave R.
The reset could be a knob on a flexi cable that enters the speedo from the rear. Reach under the dash to turn and reset.
Can you get a Owner Handbook from e-bay or one of the forum suppliers? I did for one of my BMWs - best money I spent.
Here is a page out of the 69 owners manual. It shows the trip odometer and looks like a button/knob just below. There is no instructions on how to reset it. If there is no hole in the lens it;s possible the po replaced it with a standard lens.

Thanks for the help Bob.
Years ago I had a 1970 factory tachometer deluxe instrument panel. There was a reset button for the trip odometer in the speedometer lens. The reset button is attached to the lens and pushes on the pin attached to the speedometer. I hate to say it, but somebody swapped out the lens and installed the incorrect one. Its s simple part to replace. Takes 3 or 4 hours but you don't need much more than a Phillips screwdriver and a 1/4" nut driver. But the dash pad and passenger side clock panel assembly have to come out before the instrument cluster can be removed. Hopefully all the remaining pieces attached to the speedometer are there for the reset button. I'm surprised your builder didn't notice that. NPD and CJ Pont parts sell repro lens with the button. Here is a link so you can see it.

Thanks to all of you for your input. I have ordered a Drake lens set with the reset button. At this point what is another $65. Right? Hopefully that will solve the problem. As always this forum brings lots of good info to any asked question. Thanks again guys. Dave R.
