My heater core started leaking last fall, a couple days before the car was going into winter storage. I picked the car up yesterday and tore into the project of removing the dash and replacing the core. Heater box is out and I'm waiting for parts to restore the box and replace blower motor and heater core. Since the lower dash is out, it also is getting repainted and I'm finally repairing the clock. That's about it for now.
Heater core replacement is a pain but WOW - look at your car!

A quick spin after the fact and you will forget the pain of the heater core replacement.

I had to do mine to replace bad fan motor. I also made sure to loosen up the cent flaps so it was easier to slide the heater knobs.
Heater core's are a pain but I've found it's easier if you remove the passengers seat. then you have some room to lay and work.
