So Im getting real close now. My 2 body shop/painter buddies have talked me into sanding and buffing the clearcoat. all I can say to them is your kidding me right??!! After all my hard work and what I felt was a good paint job they now want me to put abrasives against my new finish. So begrudgingly I agreed. ( Glad I did) but man I tell you I was nervous as a cat on a hot roof. The process for those who have not done it is using very fine wet & dry paper up to 3000 and sanding it wet and with blocks -as you are trying for a glass like smooth finish- working in steps 4 to be exact then buff in 3 stages for the final finish. It doesn't require much pressure and you have to continually change out the water to keep it clean-also add a few drops of dish soap in the water it seems to help keep the paper clean and not clogging up. Again patience is a virtue here especially. So I purchased a variable speed buffer-Dewalt- and foam pads and buffing compound from wizards=VERY good products I might add and great technical service!! But when I post the finished pictures I think you will agree it was well worth the time and effort.

Thanks for sharing your process and outcome.

I remember my first paint job and the trepidation of being told that now we will sand and buff. You're kidding right?

The result was even more amazing!
For sure. Not my first paint by any means but dang sure my first time at sanding and buffing it. Crazy !! But the outcome was worth the time and effort.

There is certainly a lot of work involved in a good quality paint including wet sanding and buffing. The wet sanding process not only brings out the best in the paint but it also rids the small imperfections which resulted during the painting process. Basically, it makes a good paint job look great. Nice job!
SSig_goodjobSign0175 nice work!!!
