Hi there,

I was wondering if someone can shed some light on the trade names and sources for the various sealants or foams/tapes etc I require to do the following jobs on my 72 fastback resto.

Install front windshield. I think I have this covered by using a 3M weld sealer kit 3/8". but what sealer do I use to fill the area between the window and the A pillar. Some forums state 3M 08609 and some state 3M 08509.

Next job is the rear window install. It uses a rubber gasket but the books talk about applying a foam tape first. What is the brand name and size of this tape please.

Finally the drip rails use some sort of foam tape on the inside of the drip rail alloy trim part and also between this part and the second alloy trim part that holds the window rubber seal. Any clues please.

Regards,

James Gunn

PS does any one have some good window trim for the front and rear windows on a 72 fastback for sale and drip rails. I am planning to restore but want good clean ones to start with.

It looks as though Don has given you the details of what will be needed for the work at hand.

How have you been and how has the work gone on your 72?
