Well sort of. I work/live here though home base is split between the Texas Hill Country and north Idaho. I just bought a '73 Mach I sight unseen short of a few photos and my non-car buff BIL saying it is a very nice car. In a week it will be transported from San Diego to Texas and mid-Sept I will be back home to see it for the first time. I am an old Corvette wrencher. My older brother was a Ford guy for years starting in 1973 with his first, a 1967 427 medium riser GT-500. From there it went on to about every desirable Mustang (all the Boss's, GT-350's) as well as original Cobra's both large and small block. He's over it, wishes he kept a few... The Mach I was quite a deal I thought and now that I have seen the receipts appears to be a heck of a deal. I am excited to get back into wrenching again.
Welcome from Ohio
Welcome Ed.

That is a great story. Here's hoping that the Mach 1 will convert you.Biggrin

I have never owned a Corvette although I did drive a new one back in 1985. I guess my personal preference for most cars are the late sixties to early seventies.

We will be looking forward to the pictures and updates.
Welcome to the site Ed! Great news, you decided to take after big brother and go Mustang! Let's keep our fingers crossed your brother-in-law is correct in his assessment of the vehicle. If it is a California car I would expect there isn't too much in to worry about as far as rust is concerned. Please keep us updated and share some photos of the car.
SSig_welcome4 Cool you finally came to your senses. 578254 As i never owned a Corvette, I did have a few friends that had them. While they had a certain appeal to them, by and large they were heavy, slow, and rode like a buck board. I simply regarded them as a plastic Chevy and let it go at that. Just my thoughts. Welcome and glad you converted. You'll have more fun and go faster! Hoof Beats are louder then Heart beats anyway. JTS 71 Mach1
Appreciate the welcome. Just got the Marti report and things look pretty good. Lucky I guess as the Marti should proceed the purchase...Rolleyes

It is a Q car with 4 speed, A/C (which has been removed but included), PS, PB, sport rear deck seat, console (which has been removed but included), NASA hood (which has been converted to ram air), interior decor group and a few other odds and ends. Here's a couple of photos. Well it appears not given the two post requirement. Huh

Receipts show about everything rebuilt/replaced over the past 6 years including paint (to earlier style). I bought hoping I had a wrenching project but it appears all that remains is the steering to be rebuilt.

By the way, my vette's were a 64 (327/365) and 68 (327/350) so they too were a lot of fun.

Wow...the car looks really good! I am sure you're very pleased as well. I know I sound like a broken record here but I love 4 speed cars Awes!! The pilot seat looks very inviting. Nice buy Drink_to_that! Don't be so down on not having a "wrenching project", go out and drive and enjoy the car. I have a "wrenching project" for over 2 years now that I can only wish I can be out driving it!
That looks like a very nice car - congratulations.

You will always find things that can be wrenched on. It looks like yours will be wrenching our of desire not necessity. Enjoy the ride.
Welcome to the site! You have an awesome car and if you are too overly upset about not having a project you can pick up project cars all over the place. Hell you can drive up to Oklahoma and work on mine Thumbup Just kidding of course. If I don't screw it up I wont learn.....lol
