Hi there,

I have recently acquired my father's 1971 Mach 1, he goes back and forth day to day on whether it's still his or mine. I will say it's been in my garage in Arizona for a year and half now and he is in Missouri. We are about to start a total overhaul on the car, I'm very excited about it and looking for lots of suggestions and/or info on what others have done or encountered. Body has some rust and needs work, but I'll likely do that last. I'm also in the middle of a complete rebuild on my 02 GT, the block is out and about to be cleaned so we can put it back together. So we will have two big projects going on at the same time.

Welcome.

It looks like the Mach 1 is in good company.

I am sure that it is hard to let go of something you have had for a while but at least your dad knows that you have a keen interest in the car.

Eventually that will win the day.

Welcome to the site. I can understand your father going back and forth on giving up the car. I would probably be the same way. Both cars look like great foundations for restoration. Just be careful...doing two cars simultaneously can get a bit overwhelming. Keeping track of all the nuts and bolts for one car is tough enough for me. I had 69 Mach 1 that I picked up for a good price and was going to restore but bailed out because I had another project going on. Once I complete my current project, I will look for another Mach. Good luck and keep updated.
Wow I always thought the 71 Mach1 had a sinister looking front end. Until I see it next to the GT500. Makes it look almost scared??? Cool cars I'm sure it wont feel alone JTS 71 Mach1
Sounds like you both will enjoying driving it. Keep us updated on your progress.
WELCOME FROM IOWA NICE PAIR!!! Biggrin
