I'm looking for a power steering pump for a 1969 Mach 1. It must include the reservoir. I ordered one from Laurel Mountain Mustang and the one they sent has the return line fitting facing straight out the back of the housing.

My existing pump has the return line fitting facing down. The guy at LMM said that the early 1970 Mach 1 had the pump with the fitting facing down.

What drives me nuts is that parts companies don't post photos of the pump from the front and back. This is the second time this has happened to me with a power steering pump (the previous time was 2 months ago on my wife's 71 GS).

Given that it's not a pressure line, I was hoping that perhaps I could just use the current pump, but that will push the return line into the headers and oil sending unit.

Any advice appreciated!
Thanks,
Hutch
Sorry Hutch,

I do not have a source to recommend for you.

Here is another thread along the same subject that may give you an idea of what others have faced and found out.

Give us an update on how it all works out so that we can share the news with the next one down the line.

Thanks.

Thanks! I'm going to give it one more try tonight or tomorrow to figure out something with the one from LMM, but failing that I'll be giving Chockostang a call. I'm itchin' to get this thing back on the street.
Hey everyone,

I had called Laurel Mountain Mustang requesting a return because the pump I received had the return line fitting facing straight out the back of the unit and my existing pump has it facing down. Initially it looked as if it wasn't going to work, but after trying the installation last night, I found that the return hose clears if I go up and over the oil filter. This wouldn't work for a concourse restoration, but is fine for my purpose.

So, I can verify that part #206142 fits a '69 351 Windsor - even if it's not 100% concourse correct.
