I want to introduce myself to the club. My name is Kevin and I have owned a 1971 mach 1 with 429 and 4 speed, factory air with red vermillion interior and light pewter metallic exterior for about 8 years now. Car has just over 30k original miles and is in great shape. I would love to have put it on a rotisserie and cleaned the under carriage from the zeibart undercoating and did an awesome job underneath, but I want to drive this baby. I will need a little advice from time to time and hope this site offers some.
Welcome to the site from Virginia! I had the Ziebart done on my 73 convertible back in 74. It saved the car from rust, but it is not fun to remove.

Post up some pics of your 429!

Hey Kevin welcome to the site. It sounds like you have a pretty nice ride there and I don't blame you for wanting to drive it. If advice is what you need you came to the right place.
Thanks! I bought car from my x-boss prior to his divorce because he didn't want her to get it. I have Marti report that says car is 1 of 113 like it. A lot of people say it is a rare combo. I used to have a 69 that i really liked a lot and in fact a guy down the street has 2 69 Mach 1 with 428 shaker and is interested in maybe working a trade, but his are a total resto and mine is just as i found her with an added new paint job and recovered interior. I really like my car, but do love the looks of the 69.
Welcome Kevin.

It sounds like you knew the right person at the right time!

I too love the 69 but it would be hard if I were in your shoes to let go of such a special and nice 71.
It's funny you mention that about your old boss not wanting his wife to get the car. I have once told my wife if something ever happens between us, you can have everything, except my Mustang.

Next, I agree with Steve...it sounds like you got a keeper. But I would certainly be interested seeing a picture of your car and the 69 offered up for trade. Can you post both?
