MY 69 Mach 1 does not currently have a built in tachometer. I have been thinking about adding an after market tachometer to the steering column. Any suggestions on which one or how hard it will be to wire it.
I used a small 2 1/2" so when centered it allowed me to see the speedo and the other guages easily. It was an off brand that I purchased from Kmart back in the 70's. I think I may even still have the thing, somewhere??? As for wiring a aftermarket tach Its very easy. All you need is 12v ignition source, ground, signal wire, hooks to negative side of the coil, then the last wire hooks to the dimmer/ panel lights. The Tach should come with detailed instructions and should take about 30-45 minutes to hook up. And don't think you have to spend Mega bucks on a tach. There are lots of good tachs out there for a reasonable price. So do a little searching before you buy. Good luck. JTS 71 Mach1
I used rocketmans tach for my 71 Mach 1. He has verry high quality tach at decent prices!!! For the 71-73's he even has a tach that retains your original "idiot lights" and add a tach too. Really slick set up. Since your car is a 69 he has a kit that is suppose to go in the place where the stock one would have been and look completely factory. Last i heard he was still developing that one but may have it up and running by now. If you need any tach work done this is your guy!!!! i had him convert my original tach to modern internals and it works great!!!
Heres a link to his website: http://www.rccinnovations.com/index.php?...u-tach-all

Feel free to shoot him an email, hes a very good guy and great to talk to, very knowledable!!
Both of the above suggestions are excellent and give you a good idea of what your options are.
