Well if its going to happen it best going into winter.I lost the clutch on my car,its been so long that I'm not sure of what brands are good,
don't need drag race but it needs to be able to perform.
It's a 428 with 4 sp.Any inpute would be great, thanks
Sorry - no help from me.

Shopping time.
Centerforce comes to mind. My son is running a supercharged 302 with a five speed and hasn't had any issues with the (centerforce) clutch slipping. He does have a problem with the rear tires, as he can't seem to keep them from spinning at 80 or 90 MPH. Oh what fun glorious excess! Truly most major name brand clutches should do the job. A Christmas Story rev
ho ho ho what would you like for Christmas little boy?
" I would like a new pressure plate and throw out bearing for my Mustang sir"
hoho oh my, don't you know you will burn your tires off!
you'll burn your tires off, you'll burn your tires off! heh heh heh
how about a pinetree for your interior.

Laying on my back staring a a 700lb motor 8 inch from your nose long enough and the mind wanders,

This has been a bad week ,had to sell my 68.5 cj and my 72 coupe to make bills.
What a bummer! It hard to get on with it.

thanks for the input

OUCH! JTS 71 Mach1
Ouch - now that's a BAD week.

Here's hoping things turn around for you soon.
Well the clutch is back in and on to lessons learned,No matter how much your back hurts,do it yourself,Had a local shop do it and that worked,but...they didn't get the speedo cable back in place- poof -there was a bad smell before the cable melted on the exhaust pipe.
well, that was fixed - but-when they change it they somehow shorted my gages out! Well they said they would repair it,fearing that was not a good thing to trust them with , I took it home, trying to fix it myself.
After using several old printed boards,I came to find out they are made new and don't cost that much, the same with the voltage regulaor.
Also, the wire that goes to the edge connector on the board is a fuseable link, dosen't show that on the wiring diagram eather.
So no matter how much it hurts, knuckle down and do it youself,it will be done right in the long run.

Amen on the do it yourself. I took my 71 Mach1 to Kmart back when I was 18 and recovering from a broken leg, to have the rear axle seals and all four shocks replaced. About 2 hours later they called me back to the Auto shop and informed me they couldn't install the rear shocks, as I didn't leave the trunk key. I looked at the shop manager who was 30+ in age and asked him how many Mustangs he had worked on, he said lots. I said oh yeah then how come your dumber then a teenager, I opened the door of my car and showed him the little chrome covers, over the shock bolts. I had folded the seat down when I brought the car in. Knowing they would need to get to them. I sad it's pretty bad a service manager doesn't know where the shock bolts are on a Mustang. Maybe I should apply for your job. I took my car and 2 days later noticed gear oil running down the inside of my rear tires. "Remember" they had replaced the axle seals? Well my car could have 3 different diameter axles, they put the biggest one in and missed touching the axle by about an 1/8". I rented a garage with a lift and My buddy helped me change the seals and replace the shocks I had spent about $100.00 at Kmart. And still had to finish it myself. Moral of the story. Do It Yourself! I have to say I agree. Surely there has to be some out there that have enough work ethic to do things right, I just can't say that I have found them.

Not long ago as I crossed the U.S./Mexican border I was stopped by Mexican customs and questioned as to why I had so many tools (just my normal mechanic's tools). I told them that my van had 223,000 miles and I was driving ten hours south on Mexican roads. Than I asked for them to recommend to me a good mechanic. They smiled and sent me on my way.
Maybe a motto could be; 'The best mechanic you know is holding your steering wheel when you drive' - or similar.
